Dear Archdiocese of Cincinnati,
I am Ben Wainscott and I would like to apply for the position of Managing Director for College and Young Adult Evangelization. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the University of Notre Dame and I am a missionary disciple who is passionate about introducing young adults to Jesus Christ and His Church.
I have 2 years of professional experience, including serving as a Head Counselor where I oversaw and pastored 1,000’s of young adults, children and married individuals through retreats and Catholic Youth Summer Camp. I have also served on the Core Team Youth Minister at Church of the Resurrection in New Albany, OH; Street Evangelization Minister. In these roles, I have planned and executed all activities to lead all participants to an authentic encounter with Christ.
In addition, I have cultural experience as I completed a semester-long study abroad program based in Tantur, Israel where I attended Hebrew University in Israel and Bethlehem University in Palestine. While there, I served in numerous activities that provided me with a poignant understanding of complex Middle Eastern cultures living side-by-side. This includes providing humanitarian relief in Palestinian refugee camps.
Furthermore, I was selected from 330 applicants to participate in a unique travel grant that was fully paid for by University of Notre Dame with the express purpose to bring hope and healing to this struggling third-world community of Bangladesh. There, I assisted Holy Cross Congregation by teaching English as a second language as well as Catholic precepts and inspirational talks to grades 6-12 in the neighboring villages of Scrimigal and Dinajpur.
Lastly, my desire is to bring hope to others, care deeply for the human condition, and help bring others to Christ because of service abroad–all qualities that make me an excellent candidate for this role.
